The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, July 27, 1936
Mrs. Elfie Ward, 64, died Sunday evening July 26 at her home 937 West Main 
street after a lingering illness of nineteen years.  She was the daughter of 
Mr. and Mrs. John Peavey, born in Indiana May 13, 1872.  December 24, 1889 she 
was married at Stanwood to Thompson Ward.  She has lived for the past 
seventeen years coming here from Morley.

Surviving are her husband, Thompson, of Ionia, her father John Peavey of 
Altona; one son, Ray of Pontiac, three daughters, Mrs. Wayne Crame of 
Stanwood, Mrs. Forest Hackett of Ionia, and Mrs. Erith Ward of Ionia; two 
brothers, Ellis Peavey of Lakeview and Calvin Peavy of Altona; two sisters, 
Mrs. Edith Alderson of Pontiac, and Mrs. Effie Stout of Morley, and thirteen 
grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon July 29 with a prayer 
service at the Boynton funeral chapel at 1 o’clock and at 3:30 o’clock for the 
Higbee church in Montcalm county.  Interment will be at Higbee cemetery.
