The Portland Observer, Wednesday, April 12, 1899
James Ward died at the home of his son, Peter, in Sebewa on Thursday night 
last, aged 73 years.  He was also the father of Mrs. Wm. Reynolds of this 
village.  The remains were taken to Ionia for burial by the side of his wife 
who died several years ago.  Mr. Ward was the father of Mrs. Bay Comstock of 
Ionia; and on the afternoon of the same day her father died Mrs. Comstock lost 
very suddenly by death a son 18 years of age, and a double funeral was held on 
Tuesday of this week.
