Ward, 80, of Sheridan, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at Metron of Greenville. He was born Feb. 4, 1924, in Ionia, the son of Andy and Lucille Gibson Ward. Mr. Ward was a resident of the Sheridan area since 1987, formerly of Six Lakes. He was retired from Gibson’s in Greenville and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. In addition, he was a member of VFW Post 5065. He married Alfreda M. Clark on Jan. 23, 1943, in Ionia. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Alfreda M. Ward; daughter, Beverly and Jim Gallagher of Fenwick; son, Terry and Connie Ward of Six Lakes; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Memorial services are 11 a.m. Friday at Simpson Family Funeral Home, Sheridan, with Pastor Kenneth Harger of Shiloh Community Church officiating. In accordance with Mr. Ward’s wishes, cremation has already taken place. Visitation is one hour prior to the memorial service at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial considerations to the American Cancer Society.
