He was born on October 5, 1932 in Kent County, the son of Arza and Cecile (Lejerne) Ward. Mr. Ward served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He married the former Florence Bennett in June of 1952. Richard enjoyed racing stock cars for many years, loved the outdoors and camping, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; twin grandsons. Surviving are his wife, Florence Ward of Lyons; daughter Patricia (fiancé Fred Kilorn); four granddaughters, Tamarah (Tim) Anderson, April Peak, Jeanny Warfield, and Holly Peak; 10 great-grandchildren; several step-sisters and brothers; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside services will be conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Harger, Pastor of Shiloh Community Church at 11 a.m. Friday, at Lyons Township Cemetery, Lyons.
