Alice was born on October 29, 1911 near Ionia, the daughter of Richard and Rhoda (Prescott) Dunsmore. She was a graduate of Ionia High School and Michigan State College. She married Walter Raymond Warden on Feb. 14, 1934 in Ionia. They moved to the Fountain area, where they resided for many years raising their family. In 1960 they moved to Stiles Road north of Ludington. Walter preceded her in death in October 1987. In 1991 Alice moved to San Diego, Calif., and lived with her daughter for six years before returning to Michigan. She was a member of the Fountain United Methodist Church, where she was active for many years as a Sunday School teacher and with the United Methodist Women, and was a member of the Fountain Cloverleaf Club. She enjoyed traveling, bike riding, and was swell known for her rug weaving. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, George and Herbert Dunsmore; her son-in-law, Harrison Tillman; and her grandson, Alexander Warden. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Carol (Gerald) Harter of Fremont, Calif., Mary Tillman of San Diego, Calif., Arnold (Jeanne) Warden of Conklin, Scott Warden of Ludington and Ariel (Kyle) Dummer of Manistee; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Ruth Brooks of Tucson, Ariz. Funeral services for Alice are 11 a.m. Friday at Stephens Funeral Chapel in Scottville with Rev. Russ Garrigus officiating. Burial will take place at Easton Cemetery in Iona. Friends may meet with her family at 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral services on Friday at the funeral chapel. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Fountain United Methodist Church in memory of Alice.
