Wardle of this City Died Suddenly Saturday Evening. Miss Florence I. Wardle of this city, who has been ill for about six weeks, died very suddenly at the home of her mother, Mrs. C.J. Wardle, 332 East Washington street, at 6:30 o'clock Saturday evening of quick consumption. Her death was a surprise to the relatives as well as to friends. About two months ago she went to Cadillac in hopes of benefitting her health, and came home last Wednesday. Although unable to be around she was believed to be in a fair way to speedily regain her health, but suddenly passed away on Saturday evening. Miss Wardle was of a bright and happy disposition, and was much loved by all who knew her. She had many warm friends who will learn of her death with regret and sorrow. She was a conscientious member of the Y.P.S.C.E. and of the Presbyterian Sunday school and was 19 years of age. She was born on Long Island and came to Ionia about four years ago, since which time she has been in the office of her brother, being a very efficient type-writer. She leaves behind her mother, Mrs. C.J. Wardle, three brothers, Clarence B. and H.M. of this city, and Eugene of Chicago, and two sisters, Jessie and Nellie of this city. The funeral of Miss Florence Wardle took place at the residence of C.B. Wardle Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The house was filled to overflowing with friends and relatives of the deceased, and the floral contributions were many and beautiful. Promptly at the appointed hour Mrs. L.P. Breck and Miss Laura Thompkins sang in a beautiful manner "Nearer My God to Thee", which was followed by a scripture selection by Rev. D. J.T. Oxtoby. The ladies again rendered "Abide with Me", and Rev. W.H. Thomas spoke in a fitting manner of the young life that had departed. Rev. Dr. Oxtoby followed, speaking of the young lady as a member of the church, Sunday school and Christian Endeavor, and closed with a feeling prayer. The service closed with a duet, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" rendered sweetly by the ladies.
