Warner, of 209 Leonard street. The 78 year old wife of Eugene Warner had been seriously ill since she suffered a stroke in June but she had been in failing health for many years. Mrs. Warner was the daughter of Jerome B. and Sarah Walker Vincent. She was born August 4, 1877 in the old Vincent block at the corner of Main and Pearl. This wooden building was destroyed in the fire which took several business places in the early days of this city. Mr. Vincent replaced the building with a brick block which is now owned by Leppink’s Market. This family figured largely in the early history of the city as Mrs. Warner’s father came here in 1864 from Ionia as the first merchant here. He later operated the horse car which brought passengers here from the railroad station at Kiddville. Mrs. Warner went with her parents at the age of three years to live at the farm home on No. Bridge street where her sister, Miss Jessie Vincent now lives. At that time this farm took in all of the land in the northeast section of the city north of Ellis avenue and east of Bridge street. At that time there was no bridge across the river on Bridge street and they traveled by way of N. State road and across the bridge on west main street to reach the business places. Jessie B. Vincent was married to Eugene Warner, December 25, 1897 and they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1947. Mr. and Mrs. Warner operated one of the first movie theatres in this city, but most of her life has been devoted to her family and friends. She was always sympathetic to the problems and burdens of others and thought of them before she thought of herself. Mrs. Warner leaves to mourn their loss, one son Floyd and one daughter Mrs. Ilah Warner Rauch of this city and four grandchildren, David and Gordon Warner of Muskegon and Floyd and Nancy Warner of this city, all of whom are the children of her son Leroy, who was killed in an auto accident in Muskegon. One other son died in infancy. She also leaves one sister, Miss Jessie Vincent. Also preceding her in death were two half-brothers, Hiram and Alvah Vincent, one brother Earl and one sister, Mary Vincent Case. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:30 at Ellis funeral home; Rev. H. S. Ellis officiated and Mrs. John Stahlin furnished the organ music with Miss Diedre Sutphen as the soloist. Interment was in River Ridge cemetery. Pall bearers were Ronald Parks, Allen Everhart, Clayton Campbell, Dale Klock, John Wilson and Andrew Johnson.
