WILLIAM WARNER SR., 81
William (Bill) Evert Warner Sr. of Ionia, formerly of Saranac, passed away 
Nov. 1, 2017.

He was born May 9, 1936, in Clarksville the son of RC and Catherine (Tucker) 
Warner.

Bill married Ellen Venneman Feb. 10, 1956.

Bill was an active member since 1975 of the Ionia Moose, where he received 
the Lifetime Achievement Award in September 2017. He was an active member 
since 2005 of the Greenville Eagles.

Bill worked for many years doing farming, excavation and small factory work 
before he went to work for the City of Ionia DPW (Department of Public Works) 
where he retired after 23 years. Bill enjoyed being a handyman for his 
family, friends, and helping out at the Moose Lodge.

Bill loved to golf, bowl, do yard work, and play cards. But above all, he 
loved spending time with his family.  Bill is survived by his loving wife of 
61 years, Ellen; six children, Debra Mills of Saranac, William (Bobbi) Warner 
Jr. of Ionia, Patricia (Rodney) Fothergill of Muir, Jean Longwell of Saranac, 
Sue (John) Kingsley of Saranac, and Carol (Chris) Bennett of Saranac; 23 
grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; 
brothers Chester James (Frances) Warner, Daniel (Darlene) Warner; sister-in-
laws Dorothy (Gary) Smith, Joanne Childs, Marilyn Venneman; brother-in-law 
Vernon Venneman; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents RC and Catherine Warner; Brothers Tom 
Warner, Jack warner, Gary Warner; sister Carolyn Benedict; Father-in-law Carl 
Venneman; mother-in-law Margret (Pike) Venneman; step father Cliff Daniels; 
sister-in-laws Deloris Warner, Gloria Brown, Edith Hendricks; brother-in-laws 
Earl Benedict, Mel Williams, and Rex Hendricks; son-in-laws Gary Longwell, 
Lex Souza, and Butch Mills.

A celebration of life will be held at the Ionia Moose Lodge on Monday, Nov. 
6, at 1 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make donations to Ionia 
Hospice or the Ionia Moose Lodge.
