Ionia Sentinel Standard, 2002

R. C. “Chet” Warner, 92, of Clarksville, passed away July 21, 2002 in Ionia.  
He was born May 6, 1910 in Cheboygan, the son of Chester E. and Cora Belle 
(Ensign) Warner.  He would go on to marry Catherine Tucker April 22, 1931 in 
Indiana.  He loved camping, fishing, bowling and collecting and polishing 
rocks.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Catherine; his children, Thomas E. 
(Delores) Warner of Kentwood, Chester “Jim” (Frances) Warner of Lowell, 
William “Bill” (Ellen) Warner of Ionia, Carolyn (Earl) Benedict of Saranac, 
Daniel Clayton and Darleen Warner of Scottville; 23 grandchildren; several 
great-grandchildren; and several great, great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by sons, Gary Warner in 1973 and John “Jack” 
Douglas Warner in 1983; two grandsons, Chester James Warner II in 1972 and 
Charles Benedict in 2001; two brothers; and one sister.

Funeral services for Mr. Warner will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday at the 
Lake Funeral Home in Ionia with Rev. David Flagel officiating. Visitation 
will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Anyone wishing 
may make memorial contributions to Ionia Commission on Aging. Envelopes at
