Warnke, 81, of 623 N. Jackson Street, Ionia died early Saturday morning at the Ionia County Memorial hospital where she had been a patient for one day. She was born in Ionia, in the home where she has lived all her life, April 29, 1897 the daughter of William and Augusta Bielow Warnke. She attended St. John Lutheran school and Ionia High school. She was employed as a secretary by Pere Marquette Car Shops, several years by Michigan Bell Telephone Company and many years by Hale's Mill and Runciman Milling Company of Ionia before retiring in 1954. Miss Warnke was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran church and a member of Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Survivors include 2 nieces and a nephew: Mrs. Byron (Jeanette) Hodson of Ionia; Mrs. Ruth Yonover of California and Gary Warnke of Biloxi, Mississippi. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 pm from St. Johns Lutheran church with Rev. Leo Kostizen officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Leddick funeral home Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A memorial fund has been established for St. Johns Lutheran church and may be left at the funeral home.
