Born March 2, 1967 in Queens, New York, to David & Anne Washbourn. David will be remembered for his warm, slightly lopsided grin, his sense of humor, his wit & his generous spirit. Preceded in death by his parents, David & Anne Washbourn. Survived by his wife of 27 years, Kristi; children, Jacob & Juliana; son-in-law, Seth; his beloved dogs, Maisie & Daisie & his wife's kitten, Birdie Lou. Also survived by his mother-in-law, Linda Ragnoli-Tubergen & stepfather-in-law, David Tubergen; his older sister, Maria & her wife, Terri; his younger brother, Michael & his wife Eileen; his nieces, Emily & Erin; and nephew,Nolan, brother- in-law & sister-in-law, Andrew & Tricia Shepley & their son, Michael; his step- mother, Sylvia Washbourn & extended family. David liked working with his hands, fishing, golf & helping others. He was a proud United States Marine, served in Desert Storm, working on elite security teams, & earned the Navy Achievement Medal along with other commendations. David's family hopes his memory encourages compassion, understanding & openness around mental health. By speaking about it, we honor David's life, & help break the stigma, reminding others that it is Okay to reach for help, to talk openly & to know you are never alone. Celebration of David's life will be held Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Lake Funeral Home, Ionia from 1-3 p.m.with service to follow. In lieu of flowers, family asks that donations be made to the family's GoFundMe at https://gofund.me/2f9f4b06 to help with funeral expenses & support the gamily during this difficult time. Any funds not used will be donated in David's name to his favorite charities, Toys for Tots & Habitat for Humanity. David's legacy is one of love, family and laughter.
