Arend H. Wassink, 76, of route 2, Keene township, Saranac, died at his residence
early Thursday.  He was born November 13, 1890 in the Netherlands and came to
the United States at the age of five.

A farmer, he was a carpenter by trade and as such, built several cottages on the
west side of Morrison Lake.  He was a resident of Saranac area 36 years and had
lived in Godwin Heights and Wyoming.  

He was married 53 years and is survived by his wife, Rachel, three daughters,
Mrs. Irene DeJonge and Mrs. Leona Volovlek of West Olive, and Mrs. Alice Tefft
of Saranac; 12 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs.
Bertha Kairbrink of Iowa.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 4 p.m. at Morris-Roetman funeral home in
Saranac with Rev. James Moore of Grand Rapids, a grandson, officiating. 
Interment will be in Saranac cemetery.  Family will be at the funeral home
Thursday and Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. to receive friends and relatives.
