Ionia Daily Sentinel-Satndard - Sat. June 9, 1951

Orry Waterbury, 67, prominent in Ionia Masonic lodges, died at the Ionia 
Convalescent home at 10:20 p.m. Friday, June 8, after being ill for about a 
week. He suffered a stroke last Saturday and was admitted to the convalescent 
home early in the week.

He was born November 28, 1883, in Ionia in a house just south of his present 
home at 318 North Jefferson street. He attended the Ionia schools at the age of 
15 began work at Sorosis Garment company where he worked up until he was 
assistant manager. He worked there for about 20 years. For the past 30 years he 
was employed by the Consumers Power company, 4 1/2 years of that time in 
Lansing. At the time of his retirement in 1950, he was employed in the Ionia 
service office of Consumers.

Active in Masonic circles, he was a past master of Ionia lodge F.& A.M., and at 
his death, treasurer, past high priest of the Ionia chapter, a member and 
sentinel of Ionia Commandery and one of two surviving members of the Masonic 
Temple association, organized in  1920 and at his death president of that 
group. He also attended the Presbyterian church. 

Surviving is one sister, Della J. Waterbury of Ionia. Preceding him in death 
were a sister and a brother. Mrs. Herbert Powell and Raymond Waterbury, both of 
Ionia.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the Stone-Kauffman funeral 
home with the Rev. George L. Rentschler officiating. Masonic burial services 
will be held at Oak Hill cemetery.
