The Ionia Sentinel, January 1900

A. B. Waterman, for a great many years in the early days a resident of Ionia, 
and proprietor of the old American house here, died Jan. 10 in Saranac, at the 
advanced age of 80.  Mr. Waterman left Ionia 15 or 20 years ago and has since 
lived in Lowell, but lately at Saranac where he conducted the Commercial 
hotel.  He was a good man, generally respected, and had many friends all over 
this section of the state who will regret to learn of his demise.  The funeral 
was held at 1 o’clock Friday afternoon at Saranac, interment in Saranac 
cemetery.
