Aug. 16, 1965 Fred Carl Waters, 92, former justice of the peace and Easton township clerk, died at 7:30 Sunday evening at Ionia Manor. He lived on Haynor road 54 years and at the time of his death resided at 877 Haynor road. Mr. Waters was a decorator and served on the Easton township board of supervisors on the Democratic ticket 20 years. He was also a director of Haynor school and served as justice of the peace before he was elected clerk of Easton township, an office he held about nine years. Born in Tidioute, Pa., October 23, 1872, Mr. Waters was the son of Henry and Caroline Greenlee Waters and came to South Ionia at five. April 6, 1899, he was married to Cora E. Parker who died in August 1905. He later married Grace Conner Lyle November 7, 1911 and in 1961 they observed their 50th wedding anniversary. He is survived by his wife and a daughter, Mrs. Clayton Huntley of Ionia; two sons, Glenn E. Waters of Midland and Royce C. of Ionia; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were three brothers and a sister. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday at Stone-Kauffman funeral home with interment at Easton cemetery. The Rev. A. R. Kuehn will officiate. Ionia Sentinel-Standard – Thurs. Aug. 19, 1965 Funeral service for Fred Carl Waters, 92, of 877 Haynor road, who died Sunday evening was at 2 p.m., Wednesday with the Rev. A. R. Kuehn officiating. Burial was at Easton cemetery. Bearers were Elmer Petersen, Arden Petersen, Gerald Yeomans, Edwin Yeomans, Monroe MacPherson, Sr., and Charles Densmore. Out of town relatives attending were Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Waters of Midland, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Campbell and Mrs. Muriel Alger of Kalamazoo.
