The remains of Ephraim Watkins, the old soldier who was found dead on his cot 
at the Soldiers’ home in Grand Rapids, were brought to Ionia Sunday evening by 
his daughters, Mrs. C. H. Bennett and Mrs. Belle Chappell.  He was taken to 
the home of Mrs. C. H Bennett, on Front Street, and the funeral was largely 
attended yesterday from the Berlin Center church and the remains were laid to 
rest by his wife in Lett’s Cemetery.  Mr. Watkins was born in Jefferson 
County, Ohio, on June 7, 1837, being 69 years old.
