The Ionia Daily Standard, Thursday, October 1, 1903

Stephen M. Watkins, whose death occurred Tuesday evening in Detroit, where he 
was visiting, was 74 years old, and he had been sick two weeks.  He had been a 
resident of Ionia six years since his last removal here.  He leaves one son, 
Frank M., of this city, and three daughters, Mrs. Sylvester G. Allured of 
Iowa, one in South Dakota, and one in Missouri.  Remains were received here 
yesterday afternoon.  Funeral will be held at residence on Johnson street, at 
10 a.m. tomorrow.  Interment Highland Park.
