Brown at Cook's Corners, Sunday March 26 in her eighty-first year. Mary Gardner was born near Paris, Canada, Sept. 29, 1830 and came with her parents to Otisco in October, 1844, and resided here until the year 1853, or thereabouts, when she was married to James Watkins and went with him to reside on a farm in Grattan township, where she lived until three years ago, when she came back to Otisco, and lived with her daughter. To Mr. and Mrs. Witkins were born five children, all of whom are living and are as follows: Arthur Watkins, who lives near Tustin; Mrs. Slayton, of Grattan; Mrs. Ada Brown, of Cook's Corners; Mrs. Nellie Church, of Ionia, and Mrs. Carrie Gardner, of Smyrna. Mrs. Watkins was one of a family of thirteen children, all of whom have departed from this life, with the exception of William Gardner, of Smyrna, who was the thirteenth child in the family, and his birthday occurred on May 12, and is now the sole survivor in his father's family. The funeral services were held at the home of Mrs. M. Brown on Tuesday, March 23, at eleven o'clock in the forenoon, and the remains were taken to Mason cemetery in Gratton, for interment by the side of her husband, who passed from earth life ten years ago.
