JOHN WATKINS RESIDENT 36 YEARS Mrs. John Watkins, one of the early settlers of Odessa township, having lived in this vicinity for 36 years, died at her home after a painful illness following an operation last winter. OBITUARY Mrs. Altha M. (Hall) Walkins was born in Steuben County, Ind., June 5,1867 and died at the home in Odessa, July 4, 1920, aged 53 years and one month. She was the fourth of a family of nine children of which four have preceded her to the better land. She was married to John Watkins at the home of her parents in Osceola County, April 13, 1884. To this union were born three children, one son and two daughters. She leaves to mourn their loss, her husband, three children, one grandson, two brothers and two sisters, besides a host of other relatives and friends. She was a patient, always happy and strong in the faith of a future life. The funeral was held Tuesday July 6, at the Carr church, Rev. Isaac Mourer preaching the sermon. Interment was at Lakeside cemetery.
