Portland Observer, 22 Mar 1905

Samuel Watson died at the home of a son Elijah, section foreman on Pere Marquette 
Ry., on the west side on Sunday last, aged almost 89 years.  He was one of the 
oldest persons in the county.  He was not very well known to our people, not 
having resided here a great length of time.  He was a native of Saratoga county, 
N.Y., and formerly resided at Delta, Eaton county, having come to Michigan more 
than a half century ago.  The remains will be taken to Delta ?? Wednesday for 
burial by the side of those of his wife who died several years ago.  Mr. Watson 
was the father of 13 children, six of whom survive him.
