She was born on Dec. 28, 1924 in Pinkey, Mich., and was the daughter of the late Jay C. Bowne and Marjorie (VanRiper) Bowne. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Taylor Watson and one son, Martin Jay Watson. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Keyser, W.V., where she where she served as choir director and sang in the choir of over 30 years. Beverly graduated from Ionia High School in Ionia, Mich., in 1942. She went on to graduate from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and received her Master Degree from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y. She was a professor of Voice, Piano and Music Theory at Potomac State College in Keyser, W.V., where she met her husband of 49 years. In 1952 she married Martin Taylor Watson in her hometown of Ionia, Mich., then moving to Fort Worth, Texas. She lived in Texas for eight years and started her family, which consisted of two daughters and a son. She sang and directed choirs in both the United Methodist and Zion Lutheran Church’s in Fort Worth. In 1961 she moved back to her childhood home of Ionia, Mich., where she became active in St. John’s Lutheran Church, serving as the Choir Director and soloist for many years. She also gave private piano and singings lessons at home for 15 years. In the late 70’s she moved to Keyser, W.V., where she became active in the Keyser Homemakers, Potomac Highland Arts of Keyser and helped start the Keyser Crisis Center. She was the consummate mother, wife and scholar. Beverly is survived by her loving daughter, Brenda Dale Schuster of Keyser, W. B., Marjorie K. Landis and husband Ray of Davison, Mich. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Henry Schuster and wife Dezi, James Landis, Rachel Watson, Olivia Watson and Megan Watson; many close nieces and nephews; her former daughter-in-law, Jan Watson; her son’s fiancée, Dawn Green and her daughter Kelsey D. Kilmer. Beverly is also survived by her brother, Bill Bowne of South Haven, Mich., a sister Joan (Bowne) Smith and husband Wes of Flint, Mich.; and sister-in-laws, Marge Bowne of Ionia, Mich., Susannah (Watson) Coffman of Keyser, W.V., and sister and brother-in-law, Martha and George Harris of Seneca, S.C. The family will receive friends at the Fredlock funeral Home in Piedmont, W.V., on Sunday, Nov. 27 from 4 until 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Monday, Nov. 28 at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Keyser at 11 a.m. with Pastor Sally Bartling officiating.
