The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Friday, June 18, 2004
Mary Teresa Watson of Long Beach, Cal., formerly of Ionia and Grand Rapids, 
aged forty-eight, died Monday, May 31 at the Norris Cancer Institute in Los 
Angeles.  

She was predeceased by her father, Pat Watson and brother, Joe Watson.  She is 
survived by adopted Chinese daughters, Laura and Molly; her mother, Loraine 
Watson of East Grand Rapids; brother, Gary (Patricia) Watson of Mequon, Wis.; 
and sisters, Karen (Wes) Meeuwsen of Fremont, Corinne Miller of Sylvania, 
Ohio, Patricia (Charles) Jerzycke of Northville, Monica (Ken) Randall of Ada 
and Christine (Stan) Peplinski of Grand Rapids; special friends, Karen Morgan 
and Thuy and Mark Nugent of Long Beach; and seventeen nieces and nephews.

She battled cancer for thirteen months.  Mary graduated from Marywood Academy 
and received degrees from Aquinas College, Lawrence Tech Institute of 
Southfield, Michigan State U. and Cal State U.  She worked for Boeing 
Corporation for over twenty years as an aerospace engineer and received 
special awards from the company as Woman Engineer of the Year and Amelia 
Earhart Award.

Mary’s funeral Mass was held on June 4 at St. Maria Goretti Church in Long 
Beach with a close family friend, Fr. John Ardis, CSP, of Boston, Mass.

Foundation, 764 Gilman St., Berkeley, CA  94710.
