Ionia Sentinel-Standard – Sat. May 14, 1966

Mrs. Pearl Watt, 82, of 433 Union, wife and mother of former Ionia county 
prosecuting attorneys and mother of Flint C. Watt, Ionia attorney and president 
of the Ionia district board of education, died early Saturday morning at Ionia 
County Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Watt, in ill health for several years, again suffered a bone fracture 
several weeks ago in a fall and was taken to Ionia hospital where her condition 
continued to worsen. She had been critically ill for more than a week.

Mrs. Watt was born April 18, 1884 at Bad Axe, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. W. 
H. Flint. The family moved to Clarksville where Mrs. Watt was graduated from 
Clarksville high school and later attended Olivet college.

She was married March 1, 1905 to J. Clyde Watt in Clarksville and they lived in 
Saranac until 1918 when they moved to Ionia where Mr. Watt assumed the office 
of Ionia county prosecuting attorney. He practiced law here until his death 
July 1, 1937. Mrs. Watt had been a resident of Ionia the past 48 years.

She was a member of the Ionia Presbyterian church and a memorial is being 
established for that church by the Watt family.

Funeral services are to be conducted Monday morning at 11 a.m. at the Boynton 
funeral home. The Rev. Robert McComb, pastor of the Ionia Presbyterian church 
will officiate. Burial will be in Saranac cemetery. 

Surviving are a son Flint C. Watt of Ionia, five grandchildren and one great 
grandchild.
