June 16, 1938 Portland Boy Dies After Poison Dose PORTLAND- Wendall Way, 16 year-old Portland high school junior, died early Monday morning after several doses of sleeping powders and poison insecticide. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Way of Danby township, found the youth in his bed Monday at 5:45 a.m. The boy had played tennis in Portland Sunday afternoon and returned to his home at 11 p.m., according to Sheriff Herbert A. Ross. He was reputedly in ill health being subject to severe heart attacks. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Portland Baptist church with burial in Portland cemetery. Surviving him besides his parents are a brother, Arwin, 19 and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Way, of near Portland.
