Mrs. Weaver was 82 years old, was feeble with age, but was in usual health. On Christmas day her children and grand children visited the homestead and the day was passed in a most pleasing and joyous manner. About 10 o’clock Mr. and Mrs. Weaver retired. She stated that her heart troubled her some which was nothing at all unusual. She complained somewhat of a soarness in her throat, and bandaged her neck. Soon they both fell asleep and slept apparently sound until between 5 and 6 o’clock on the morning of the 26th. Me Weaver awoke, and his face came in contact with that of his wife, when he was alarmed because it seemed stone cold. He struck a light, called the family, and Mrs. Weaver was found to be a corpse. Her funeral was attended by a large concourse of people, at the Christian church on Sunday last. She leaves her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Julia Bradford of Stanton, Mrs. Mary Harroun of Greenville, and Mrs. Martha Harroun of this place, besides many grand children to mourn her loss. Mrs. Weaver was born in Washington Co., N.Y., Sept. 17th, 1779. Sept. 23rd, 1879, this aged couple celebrated the 60th anniversary of their marriage. They were among the early pioneers of this township, having settled here in 1843. About 21 years ago she made a public profession of religion, and united with the Otisco Christian Church of which she remained a worthy member until her death. She was a woman of unassuming manners, but sincerely devoted to her family and to every good work.
