Mrs. Emeline Weaver died at her home on South Pleasant street at an early hour this morning after a brief illness from pneumonia, aged 77 years, 5 months and 27 days. Deceased was born in Pittstown, N. Y., July 18, 1837 and came to Michigan with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Luce, in 1858, locating on what is now known as Peck’s Hill, in this city. Feb. 28, 1859, she was married to Caleb Weaver, who, two or three years later, enlisted in the Civil war, and after serving for a time, was taken sick and died. To this union was born one son, who died in infancy. For many years, Mrs. Weaver has been a valued member of the Belding W. R. C. She possessed many sterling traits of character – kind, generous, noble and true – and was esteemed and respected by all who knew her. She is survived by one brother, Charles Luce, of this city, and many relatives and hosts of friends who mourn her death. Funeral services will be held at her late home, Saturday, at one o’clock in the afternoon, Rev. W. E. Doty officiating. Interment in the Otisco cemetery.
