Webber, jr., 45, of Long Island, N.Y., was received early Sunday morning by Mrs. Ella Webber of Ionia. Death came Sunday following a serious illness of the past several months. Mr. Webber was the son of the George W. Webber, sr., and a half-brother of the late Maxwell H. Webber of Ionia. Mr. Webber was born in March, 1892. After attending preparatory school in Clinton, N.Y., he went to the Ionia high school for a year, where he was an outstanding athlete on the football and track teams. He enrolled in Olivet college in 1909 and graduated in 1912. His career in the lumber business and as a founder of a floor-board factory in Ionia was terminated when he was among the first to be drafted into service and sent to the officers’ training camp at Battle Creek. He was about to be sent overseas as a captain when the armistice was declared. After his discharge he was associated with a Michigan automobile insurance company in Chicago and with other enterprises. For the last three years he has resided in New York city. No definite plans for the funeral services were received by Mrs. Webber, but it is expected that he will be buried at Long Island.
