The Hon. Geo. W. Webber died at his home in Ionia on Monday morning of this
week, aged 74 years last November.  Mr. Webber was one of the wealthy men of
Ionia county and this part of the state and he had done much to improve his home
city, where he had resided since 1863.  He was a native of Vermont, but came to
Michigan in 1852 and engaged in lumbering in Manistee county for six years.  He
then came to Ionia county, where he continued to reside.  Deceased was a member
of Congress from this district in 1881-2, and mayor of Ionia for two terms.
