Jack A. Wedderburn Sr., 74, of Ionia passed away Sunday October 17, 1999 at 
Heartland Health Care Center.  He was born June 25, 1925 in Lakeview, the son 
of Lawrence and Marguerite (Seat) Wedderburn.  He was a 1943 graduate of Lyons 
High School.  

Mr. Wedderburn was an avid golfer and enjoyed the outdoors.  He co-owned Grand 
Valley Chrysler Plymouth from 1968 to 1982.  He then went on to work for 
Berger Motor Sales from 1982 until his retirement in 1993.  He was a Life 
Member of the Ionia VFW Post 3732 and a past member of both the Ionia Rotary 
Club and the Hunting and Fishing Club of Ionia.  Me Wedderburn was a World War 
II veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1943 to 1946.

He married Grace McArthur on September 2, 1950 in Ionia, and she survives 
him.  Also surviving are his mother, Marguerite Crooks of Ionia; son, Jack 
Wedderburn Jr. of Long Lake; daughters, Marilyn (Bill) McLenithan of Woodland 
and Margo (Marty) McKendry of Ionia; sister, Bonnie (Clare) Confer of Ionia; 
grandchildren Tec-Sgt. Bryan (Terri) Yeomans of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Beth Ann 
McLenithan of Woodland; Evan McKendry and Sean McKendry, both of Ionia.  Mr. 
Wedderburn was preceded in death by one son, Max, and his father Lawrence.

Cremation has taken place upon his request.  A memorial service will be held 
at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Christian Church, Ionia, with the Rev. Jean 
Wisenbaugh officiating.  Visitation is Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at 
the Lake Funeral Home, Ionia.  Memorial contributions may be made to the 
American Cancer Society or the Ionia VFW Post.  Envelopes are available at the 
funeral home.
