Jan. 24, 1977 W. WEISGERBER, SR. IONIA - William L. Weisgerber, Sr. 85, longtime Orange township farmer, died suddenly Saturday at his winter residence in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was born in Orange township July 10, 1891, the son of Edward and Sarah Little Weisgerber. He lived and farmer on the family farm in Orange township all his life. The family farm was designated a centennial farm in 1958. He attended LeValley schools and Ionia High School. He married the former Bernice Bradt September 2, 1916 in Lyons. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in the LeValley United Methodist church in 1966. Mr. Weisgerber was a lifelong member of the LeValley United methodist church and served as an usher for most of his life. He helped to build the present church building. He was a member of the Michigan Farm Bureau, Ionia County Historical society and the American Association of Retired People. Surviving besides his wife are on son, Wiliam E. of Ionia; two sisters, Mrs. Kirk (Margaret) Wicks of Grand Rapids and Mrs. Henrietta French of Ionia; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. One daughter, Mary Jo Smith, preceded him in death in 1976 and one brother, Robert preceded him in death January 7, 1977. A sister,Mrs. Violet Sykes also preceded him in death. Services are Wednesday at 1 pm from the LeValley United Methodist church with Rev. Dr. Lloyd G. Walker officiating. Burial is in Tuttle cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Leddick funeral home Monday 7 to 9 pm and Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A memorial fund is established for the LeValley United methodist church.
