Jan. 7, 1977 Robert R. Weisgerber, 82, a well known Orange township farmer died early Friday morning in Ionia Memorial hospital where he had been a patient for 10 days. He was born in Orange township August 25, 1894, the son of Edward and Sarah Little Weisgerber. He attended LeValley schools and lived at the family residence on Kelsey highway most of his life. He married the former Virginia Metzger, August 12, 1922 at her parent’s residence in Easton township. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1972. He was a lifelong member of the LeValley United Methodist church and a member of the LeValley Farm Bureau. Surviving besides his wife are one son, Stuart of rural Ionia; two daughters, Mrs. William (Jean) Storey of Chelsea and Mrs. Phillip (Alice) Johnson of Battle Creek; one brother, William Weisgerber, Sr., of rural Ionia; two sisters, Mrs. Kirk (Margaret) Wicks of Grand Rapids and Mrs. Henrietta French of Ionia; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Services are Monday at 1 pm at the LeValley United Methodist church with Rev. Dr. Lloyd Walker officiating. Burial is in Tuttle cemetery. Visitation is at the Leddick funeral home Saturday and Sunday. The family requests that friends and relatives call at the family home on Kelsey highway. A memorial fund is established for the LeValley United Methodist church.
