Mrs. Welsh was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Fisher, who came to this section of the state from Ohio, at an early date and they were pioneer residents of the Miriam district where she grew up as a girl. She was married to Thomas Welsh and they resided in this city for quite a number of years, Mr. Welsh being elected as the first city clerk at the time this community separated from Otisco township and incorporated as a city. Mr. Welsh was engaged in various business enterprises during the family’s residence here, going from here to Grand rapids and 18 years ago, to Hart, where they have since resided. Surviving are the husband, Thomas Welsh, a son, Clarence, both of Hart, and a daughter, Mrs. Eileen Eggleston, of Grand Rapids. A sister, Mrs. Anthony Martin, of Allegan, and a brother, Louis Fisher, of Grand Rapids, also survive. Funeral services were held at St. Gregory’s Catholic church at Weare, near Hart, Wednesday morning and the remains were taken to Grand Rapids for burial. Mr. Welsh and children have the sympathy of their many friends in this community in their great loss. [Transcriber's Note: Both spellings of the surname, Welch and Welsh, are typed as they appear in the obituary.] File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/ionia/obits/w/welch1268nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/mifiles/ File size: 2.0 Kb
