Welch, aged 63 years. Deceased had been confined to his house for several weeks, but up to a week or so before his death, was hopeful of recovery. He was conscious to the last calling his wife to him just before the end came, he said, “I am dying,” and passed peacefully out in to the great unknown. He had been a resident of Lyons for many years and at the time of his decease was serving the village in the capacity of trustee, which position he had held for several years. He was conscientious in the discharge of his official duties and had the courage to defend his position upon every question coming before him. This is a trait of character greatly needed in public officials and was thoroughly exemplified in deceased. Funeral was held at the Methodist Church Monday, being conducted by Rev. J.C. Jewell, the village council attending in a body. Interment in Lyons cemetery. Deceased had an interesting career, but a want of data prevents us from giving a more extended notice at this time.
