Ionia Standard, 2 Oct 1879

Douglas, son of John H. Welch, died on Tuesday night after a sickness of nearly
two years.  He was a most exemplary youth, and was universally liked.  Although
at times a severe sufferer, he has borne throughout a patient and forebearing
spirit.  Just previous to his death he was baptized by Rev. J. Pierson.  The
funeral will occur today at the Presbyterian church.
