The Ionia Standard, Thursday, January 20, 1881

The funeral of Simon A. Welch, who died at the house of his mother in Easton, 
occurred yesterday morning at that place.  He was a son of the late Simon 
Welch and a brother of E. S. Welch of this city.  He has been troubled with 
lung difficulties for some time, and spent last summer in Colorado vainly 
hoping to find relief.  The deceased had many friends, who will greatly lament 
his untimely death.
