May 11, 1954 Mrs. Emma T. Welch, 90, of 230 East Washington street, died early Tuesday morning at the Ionia County Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for the past two weeks. She was born at Milton, Ontario, September 20, 1963, the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. H. H. Tremayne. She came, with her family, to Ionia in 1965 and they settled at what is now known as Tremaynes Corners. They later moved to Ionia where she attended schools here and in 1881 was married to A. M. Welch who preceded her in death in 1941. They lived the early part of their married life on the old Welch homestead and moved to Ionia city in 1910. She was a life member of St. John’s Episcopal church and an active member of the guild. Surviving are three sons, John B. of Ronald township, and Henry T. on the Welch farm and A. Palmer of Ionia city; four grandchildren, Amos Jr., Douglas Welch, Emma Jane Crossman all of the Ionia area and Mrs. Jane Beach of Dallas, Texas. Six great-grandchildren, Janet Welch, Marcia and Irma Sue Welch, Mary Jo Crossman, Tracy Lynn and Catherine Jane Beach also survive. The family will be at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 o’clock. Mrs. Welch reposes at Boynton funeral home and funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2:30 at St. John’s Episcopal church with the Rev. Fr. Roger J. Bunday officiating. Interment will be at Highland Park cemetery. (Ionia Sentinel Standard, Friday, May 14, 1954) Funeral services for Mrs. Emma T. Welch of 230 East Washington Street, who died early Tuesday morning, were held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 at St. John’s Episcopal church. The Rev. Fr. Roger J. Bunday officiated. Interment was at Highland Park cemetery. Bearers were: Fred B. Post, Marshall Westfall, Robert Clore, Kenneth Wheaton, A. M. Burnett and O. M. Jones. Out-of-town relatives who attended the services were Mrs. Marcus W. Beach of Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Don McDowell and Mrs. Dorothy Tyler of Kalamazoo, and Mr. and Mrs. Druce Tremayne of Grand Rapids.
