April 15, 1885 Vine Welch died at four o’clock last Saturday at the family residence in the second ward. Mr. Welch was in his 66th year. He was one of the early pioneers, coming into the county with his father in 1836. He settled on the farm in Easton, now owned by Benj. Pike, where he lived many years. He leaves a wife and four children. Funeral at M. E. Church at 2 o’clock last Sunday afternoon. Obituary also appeared in Ionia Standard – Friday April 17, 1885 Vine Welch, one of the oldest settlers of Easton, died on Saturday morning at his home in this city. He was sick only a short time, dying from inflammation of the lungs. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the M. E. church was very largely attended. The sermon was preached by Rev. L.
