                            Lucretia C. Welch
    Passes From Earth to Her Reward of Rest, at the Ripe Age of 81 Years.

Mrs. Lucretia C. Welch died at 6:30 o'clock on Monday evening, at the home 
of her daughter, Mrs. E.A. Rich, with whom she had made her home for many 
years. Deceased attained the ripe age of 81 years, on March 27th last.

Mrs. Welch was born in St. Lawrence county, New York, in which state she 
resided until May of 1882, when she came to Ionia to live with her daughter. 
The husband preceded her to the realm of rest in June of 1881. She was in 
Ionia only a few brief months when she sustained a fall on Main street, 
which resulted in a dislocation at the hip. She was never able to go without 
crutches afterward, and though at periods sufferer from pain, she endured 
her affliction with the greatest patience. 

Mrs. Welch was in the fullest sense a beautiful and delightful character. 
Well informed and energetic, though with a modest: bearing, she was most 
interesting in conversation. She always found pleasure in doing: her 
unceasing industriousness at her advanced age was quite remarkable. No 
kinder mother ever left children to mourn her death. 

Mrs. Welch was the mother of seven children, three only of whom grew to 
maturity, and two only are living, Ms. H.A. Rich and Miss Erean C. Welch, 
both of whom ministered to the comforts of the good mother during all the 
long period of her helplessness, and both of whom happily were at the 
bedside when the light of the clear life went out.

The funeral services will be at the home where she died, at 2:30 o'clock on 
Wednesday afternoon, and will be private. Interment in Highland Park.
