Ionia Sentinel Standard, 3 Feb 1931

Ezra Welch, living one time in Portland, died at his home in Mason last week. 
Mr. Welch came to Portland when a young man to learn the tailor trade of George
Mahon.  He died suddenly, being stricken while cleaning the walk in front of his
store, and dying after he tottered into the store.  A wife and an adopted
daughter survive.
