The Ionia Standard, Friday, April 20, 1883
Andrew J. Welch, for years one of Ionia’s prominent business men, died at the 
Asylum at Kalamazoo on Friday last.  His remains were brought ot his city on 
Monday, and in the afternoon of that day the funeral services were held at the 
church of Christ, conducted by Rev. E. Campbell pastor, the choir of the 
Presbyterian church furnishing some very fine and solemn music.  He was buried 
in his family lot in the old cemetery.  He was married twice and leaves a 
widow and one son, a young man of twenty-two now a resident of Texas.
