Welch, 68, 503 Union street, died in her sleep early Saturday morning. She was found by her sister, Mrs. Frederika Lowrey about noon Saturday. She was born at Tawas City April 3, 1891, the daughter of Thomas C. and Julia F. Dingman, and came to Ionia as a baby in 1891. She was graduated from County Normal and Central Michigan college, with a teachers degree and taught both country and public schools in Ionia. On January 18, 1918 she was married to John. R. Welch. Except for five years in St. Johns, she spent her entire life in Ionia. Mr. Welch died in December 1953. Mrs. Welch was a member of the First Baptist church. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Lowrey of Ionia; one brother, Thomas Dingman of Dearborn and two nieces, Mrs. A. J. Kohler of Monroe and Mrs. Charles Johnson of Garden City. Funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Boynton funeral home with the Rev. Heath T. Goodwin officiating. Burial be at the family lot at Easton cemetery.
