After failing to see him around all day they investigated and found him dead about 9 o’clock. Coroner Neil Phelps and Sheriff Peter Van Vleck said he had been dead for about 48 hours from natural causes. He was born October 7, 1892 in Eaton township the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Welch. He had spent his entire life in Ionia county and resided in Ionia since 1943 and in his present home for the past two years. He had been employed at the Ionia Manufacturing Co. for 15 years and until his retirement one year ago. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Edith Fay Wells of Lansing, Mrs. Harold Keith of Lincoln Park, and Mrs. Harold Gates of Saranac; one brother, Charles Welch of Saranac, several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held from Phelps funeral chapel Saturday afternoon at 3 o’clock. The Rev. Heath Goodwin will officiate and interment will be in Easton cemetery.
