Nov. 9, 2019 WELLMAN Glenna Joy Wellman, 73, of Saranac passed away in her home unexpectedly November 5, 2019. She was born September 12, 1945 in Ionia, Michigan the daughter of Roy and Dorothy (Shite) Chase. She was employed by Paulstra CRC in Grand Rapids, Michigan for nearly 20 years. Glenna married Forrest "Spike" Wellman February 14, 1987 in Saranac. He preceded her in death in 2006. Surviving Glena are her children; Michelle (Kenneth) Nash of Saranac, Bonnie (Roger) Knop of Saranac, Denise (Duane) Whittemore of Graying, Joseph Meyers of Clarksville. Also, her grandchildren; Kyle Nash, Kandice (Evan) Way, Anthony Knop (Melissa), Jeremy Knowp, Kayleigh lambert, Hannah Lambert, Emma Whittemore and Justin Meyers. Great grandchildren: Kaleb and Isabella Way, brother Gary Chase of Kansas, sister Karen Root of Cadillac, bonus daughter Brenda Curtis and many nieces and nephews. Former husband and father of their children, Larry Meyers of Edmore. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son Larry Meyers, sisters Darlene Clark and Kay Whitaker and brother Donny Ward. Glenna's greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. She dearly loved her cat, Libby and going to the casino to celebrate her birthday. Glenna was a big country music fan. She was especially fond of the music of Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline. Glenna was well known for her independence, strength and resilience and will be missed by many. Cremation has taken place and there will be a Memorial Celebration Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Saranac Community Church with Pastor Becky Poor officiation. Visitation will take place at the church from 10 a.m. until time of services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Saranac First Responders.
