Wellman, age 76, of Saranac formerly of Portland, died peacefully at home, Thursday, March 16, 2006, surrounded by his wife, Glenna and his family who loved him unconditionally. Born August 31, 1929 in Breckenridge, Michigan, one of 15 children of Isaac and Eliza (Ordiway) Wellman. Forrest started working at age 12 hauling horses to Tennessee and continued working at whatever jobs needed to be done until he was old enough to be hired into factory work. He worked at Reo, Lansing Heat Treating, Michigan Wire and Atmosphere Annealing from which he retired in 1997. He built industrial furnaces and anything else that needed to be built. He could build and do anything he set his mind to. Forrest was a wonderful provider for his children and loved his children and grandbabies above all else. He was always eager to share in their many accomplishments and latest antics. His first wife Lucille (Honsowitz) Wellman (in 1988) and 11 brothers and sisters preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Glenna (Meyers) Wellman and his children Forrest (Nora) Wellman, Hovita (Quinton) Smith, John (Connie) Wellman, Tim (Becky) Wellman and Scott (Tina) Conner-Wellman and chosen daughter Jo (Ed) Warrichait. Stepchildren Michelle (Ken) Nash, Bonnie (Roger) Knop, Denise (Keane) Lambert and Joe (Wendy) Meyers. Grandchildren Aprill (Matt) Zserdin, Gail Wellman, Jennifer Smith, Megan (Joshua) Munn, Elisabeth, John, Matthew and Sarah Wellman, Alan Hensley and Alex and D'Laney Conner-Wellman. Step grandchildren Kyle and Kandice Nash, Anthony and Jeremy Knop, Kayleigh and Hannah Lambert and Justin Meyers. Great grandchildren Kyle, Cody, Anthony, Abigail, Jordyn, Meekah, Auttumn, Ashli, and Evan. Also survived by brother Herman Wellman and sisters Kathryn Scott and Midge Shuman and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted by Pastor Gregory R. Wolfe at 11 a.m., Monday, March 20, 2006 at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 210 East Bridge Street, Portland. Interment will be in Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 19, 2006 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Forrest (Dad-Daddy-Spike Grandpa and Big Grandpa) led by example. Work hard, be loyal, love your family and be kind and treat everyone you may encounter with respect and kindness. Dad (Daddy)-you brought so much joy to all the people you have touched through out your life. We will miss the great stories, laughter, talks in the barn and the huge hugs and the love you unconditionally gave to us all. We have been blessed to have you in all of our lives all of these years.
