William J. Wells, 85, died Tuesday morning, June 4, at his home in Sheridan.

He was born November 10, 1860, at Hudson.  He married Helen Robotham in March, 
1914.  He had lived for the past 40 years in Sheridan and vicinity, and 
operated a restaurant there for 26 years.  His younger life was spent around 
Palo.  He is a member of Masonic lodge and the Odd Fellows IOOF, and had served 
as Evergreen township treasure and village clerk and councilman for Sheridan.

Surviving are his wife; a step-daughter, Mrs. Otto Olsen, of Sheridan, and two 
step-sons, Kelsey Robotham of Grand Rapids and Claude Robotham of Clinton.

Funeral service will be held from the Stebbins funeral home at Sheridan 
Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. S. J. Headley officiating.  Interment will be 
at the Palo cemetery.  The services will be in charge of the Masonic lodge.
