Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, 8 Sep 1959

Joseph I. Wells, 68, 1464 Wood street, died Saturday afternoon at his home 
after a lingering illness.  He was employed at the Michigan Reformatory.

He is survived by his wife, Julia; four daughters, Mrs. George (Wilma) Steffen 
of Rockford, Mrs. Ray (Joanna) Banning of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Henry (Ruth) 
Ticcard of Grand Rapids and Mrs. George (Evelyn) Burgtorf of Belding; seven 
grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Henry of Belding and 
Howard of Hubbardston and several nieces and nephews.

The body of Mr. Wells is at the Robert L. Pierce funeral home at Rockford where 
services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Morris F. Howell 
officiating.  Interment will be at Blythefield Memory Gardens.
