The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, December 4, 1916

Mrs. Susan Wells died on Saturday, at the home of her son, Loren D. Wells, in 
Chicago.  The remains arrived at 3:03 this afternoon, accompanied by Mr. and 
Mrs. Wells, and interment was in the family lot at Oak Hill cemetery, Rev. 
Marshall of the Presbyterian church conducting a brief prayer service.  The 
bearers were H. VanAllen, C. B. Wardle, Geo. W. Webber and H. B. Webber.  

Deceased was the widow of Chauncey E. Wells, and they had been for a quarter 
century respected residents of Ionia, Mr. Wells operating here in the lumber 
business in the busy days of that industry in this section of Michigan.
