Sylvester F. "Sy" Wells, 97, of Belding, passed away Tuesday morning at 
Spectrum Health Greenville Campus. Sy was born on March 5, 1909 near Winn, 
Michigan the son of Fred and Elizabeth Handy Wells.  Sy had lived in the 
Belding area on his farm for many years. He was married on April 18, 1927 in 
Belding to Susan "Susie" Block and she preceded him on June 24, 1987.

Sy was also preceded by his daughters; Phyllis Wells in 1965 and Marvel 
Burgess in 2000 and two granddaughters; Colleen Jo and Ursula Sue.  He is 
survived by his grandchildren; Shelia and David Linderman, Terri and David 
VanHorn all of Greenville, Lewis and Pamela Burgess Jr. of Ionia and Michael 
and Billie Jo Burgess of Lakeview. Sy is also survived by 9 great-
grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral and committal services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Johnson-Feuerstein 
Funeral Home, Belding with Pastor Ken Harger of Shiloh Community Church 
officiating.  Interment will be in Greene Cemetery. Visitation will be 
Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be 
given to the Belding Lions Club or Shiloh Community Church.
