The Lowell Ledger, Friday, March 9, 1888


“Uncle” Samuel Wells, of this village, died Tuesday night of this week, aged 
76 years.  He has been failing for some time, but for the past four weeks has 
been on a rapid decline.  Mr. Wells was one of the old settlers, and mention 
is made of him in Mr. Stannard’s papers on the early settlement of Boston 
township, and is the third, we believe, of those whose names are so given, 
that has died since the publication has begun.
