WELLWOOD, LOCAL JEWELER Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 from the Stebbins Funeral Home at Sheridan for Charles E. Wellwood, 79, Carson City jewelry store and clock repairman. Mr. Wellwood passed away Friday morning, April 5 at 3 o'clock in Clinton Memorial hospital, St. Johns, after an extended illness. Rev. H.James Birdsall, pastor of the Carson City Methodist church, officiated at the services. Interment was in the Palo cemetery. Mr. Wellwood was born in Bushnell township, Montcalm county, December 20, 1877 and had spent most of his life in this area. e attended Carson City public school, and a s a young man spent nine years in Oregon where he homesteaded a claim, late selling the land to return to Carson City. He purchased the jewelry store and clock repair service here from George Fling in 1919, and had operated it since. He also owned and operated a 240 acre farm in Bushnell and Bloomer townships. He never married. Survivors are a sister, Mrs. Bertha Rice of Ionia and a brother, Carl Mason of St. Louis, and nieces and nephews. Two sisters and a brother preceded him in death.
